it's interesting how some people can be oblivious to the fact that they're not only not funny but also being insulting, and yet persist in the hope that someone will eventually get their joke. unfortunate, but interesting.

you make a tedious attempt at a joke and you're likely to get a tedious reply. (still doesn't answer why you make these tedious attempts, of course.)

seriously: how is it not tedious that you're attempting the same lame joke again?

i'll leave a response to the "thick" remark up to matt, as it's presumably directed at him (and is a further insult), except to say that "trying to block trevor's childish inanities out of one's memory" might also be an adequate explanation.

an aside to matt: is it not against forum policy to be a deliberate arsehole to people? and if not, i think it should be.

me personally or btr as a group? if it's the former, i'm wondering how guessing that it's another joke, explaining this to matt and noting that i think it's again completely unfunny is "ridiculous" as reactions go... perhaps you can explain further.

again, mine or ours? if it's mine, then there is no lack of memory: notice that i guessed correctly on the first attempt. if it's matt's, then feel free to take or leave my hypothetical reason, or perhaps another: your comments are extremely unpredictable, we're not mind readers, and you've been nasty in the past, so we honestly don't know how to interpret any of your comments.

again, these are hypothetical possibilities, but they certainly show that "thick" isn't the only possible word for what's happening here -- which you seem to suggest it is.

btw, i'm willing to concede that it's perfectly possible for your insults to represent your reaction to whatever this hypothetical "we" has been up to, but that fact alone does not prevent them from being insults. nor does the notion of counching the offending remark in the context of a paraphrase. to offer a similar example, if you call someone a moron, even if you're paraphrasing something someone else once said, you're still calling that person a moron.

huh? just because you explain that one comment is meant to be taken as a joke, are we to now assume that every subsequent comment should be taken likewise? (i can, if you like: might make things more entertaining.) if they're not obvious jokes, then there's no guarantee they won't be taken seriously.

oh yeah, that and this is the btr forum, so it tends to get assumed that if people want to discuss btr, they'll have visited the sister site and gathered relevant background information so as not to look like clueless idiots. it is not, however, the trevor gensch forum, so we honestly never felt the need to do thorough trevor gensch research to post messages on the btr forum.

anyway, it's nice to see you still have the ability to spark off vaguely relevant, interesting and totally unconfrontational conversations. granted, i'm equally guilty of encouraging this by responding to it, so unless there's anything really pressing (and vaguely important) that still needs to be discussed, i think i might retire.

it's not the exact same comment, and actually it took me a second glance to notice that it's vaguely similar. maybe the same applied to matt: that he'd completely forgotten the content of the original comment and so a vaguely similar (but not really identical either) remark may not have sparked off any bells. after all, it wasn't a terribly memorable remark.
