Gavin Standen
I'm sorry to have to tell you folk that Gavin Standen died on the second of December, 2003.
He was involved in the Staggering Stories audio sketches and was also a good friend. A life long Doctor Who fan, he had a sense of the absurdity that theprogramme could produce and thoroughly enjoyed laughing at it whilst still keeping that warm fannish glow we all have.
A talented actor, Gavin was the person responsible for the superb impersonations of Fast Show charecters and Sylvester McCoy for the Staggering Stories The 40 Fast Years In The Tardis Show. He also co wrote them with me over one evening. There was so much laughter that night.
I met him in 1989 back home in Jersey at the Eastercon. He'd been told about me from the Jersey Dr Who Club and was dying to meet the person that could really get up the rich and somewhat spoilt noses of the majority of the members. We hit it off straight away and remained good friends until we lost touch earlier this year.
Gavin is survived by his son, fiance and family.
So, I'd ask you to raise a glass to him next time your able. Oh, and if you want to hear the sketches I'll include the direct links...
Thank you
Tony Gallichan (macfadyan)
