Seriously though, it's a difficult question to answer, because without having gone down the path I've taken, I wouldn't have learnt all the things I now know! I had to originally produce the CDs one at a time as I didn't know how/if they would sell, which meant SOL1 cost twice what SOL12 did, for example. If I'd known it would have sold, I would have written the entire series first and recorded it all first, then gone into editing. This would have prevented many early casting issues which led to the story overrunning. I would have tried to keep it to ten releases, I would have tried to keep the releases more regular. I would have used a 'narrator' to help the listener. I would have trusted in my overall sense of what the series is. The biggest thing I would have changed is to have gone for a wider audience via a broadcast. That's a taster of my hindsight! |
