Not a bad choice though if it's true.

I keep getting random texts from my brother about various Who things he's picked up from somewhere or other. The latest is that Eddie Izzard had been DEFINITELY signed as the Dr. That said he's already said he'd refuse if asked.
Not a bad choice though if it's true. |

Writers | ||

Just seen the monthly with the stuff on the new writers. It's funny that none of them have written for the series before but all are established Dr Who writers!
I wonder if they were tempted to have an old timer in there somewhere (like Dicks of Letts). I think I'm happiest by their absence though. Paul Cornell seems the weakest in the none Who related CV stuff. If you haven't seen it RTD now has a backpage column in the monthly. The more I hear/ read him the more I like him - he spills the beans about some details of the first episode - namely that it contains the words "radial, balcony, and shunt"! Tells us that they are talking about casting for a very important character in episode nine, and that a man is getting the copyright clearance for stuff he wants in episode twelve! All absolutely meaningless and just the kind of thing that fans like to hear! |

What do you mean, just seen the monthly? It's been out 2 weeks already!!
I take my tent and camp outside GT News on every fourth Wednesday. New series? 'Of the fans, for the fans, by the fans.' Just keep checking our backsides... to see if we've disappeared up them. Yours, Disappointed of Herefordshire |

Hmmm... yes guilty of slipping from superfan status. I dont always get the monthly on release date.

It's Eccles Cake | ||

Wasn't it just bound to be someone never mentioned before? Should be okay. I reckon he'd edge out Bill Nighy because surely this new series is going to have more action.
It was all right for Hartnell to be old and bumble around forgetting his lines, but it's not really going to wash these days is it. I reckon the Daleks will be back, but they'll try and keep it a surprise (and fail). I would imagine Eccles Cake will be pretty intense as The Doctor, because, well, he is in everything else! I can't believe it, folks. The signs are just so good for this return. What were the chances of it looking this good? Off for a surf Ado |

A left-field choice but an excellent one. When you look at his CV there's alot of range there. Yup I'm very happy and fannishly bought all the daily papers today!

For those fans who wanted Bill Nighy to be the Doctor, your dreams have come true according to the Daily Mail !!
Apparantly John Levene said yesterday at the G4 signing that he's been talking to Davies who is keen to bring UNIT back for the second series. Perhaps it's about time that Benton became a Brig.... |

Oh No! Not flipping UNIT.
Just when you are sure it's going to be fantastic someone posts something like this! |

Eureka! Eccles Cake. | ||

That's him. That's the guy I was wittering on about in the other post. Beaky guy!
Got a lot of gravitas when he wants. That's the beauty of the Dr. He's like James Bond. Get him wrong and you just sack him and get someone else. Bit important that they get it right from the off though. |

They can also sack him if he's quite good. What they can't seem to do is get rid of useless producers.
Hey, nothing wrong with beaky guys. |

Oh NO! | ||

My Dad passed me his copy of Sunday Telegraph which has a full page on the new Doctor Who series. I say a full page but there was one column on a separate story - it was headlined GRADE ON SHORTLIST OF THREE FOR BBC PREMIERSHIP.
Yes it was the only story on the same page - and I'm sure no-one there could have seen a glimmer of irony. No this is one time when the fans actually should do a letter writing campaign (but of course we won't). Lets just keep our fingers crossed that it's anybody else but... or this could be the second shortest revival of Who! |

At least the Chairman's role is more of an overseerer of the whole BBC empire, rather than a hands on day-to-day running of the television channels like the DG's job is.
But I'd just rather he'd didn't win Gaz |

Second Coming of Beaky | ||
|
Watched RTD's Second Coming drama last night starring our beaky.
WOW! It's a must see from the quality writing POV. Controversial without being sensationalist or shock seeking. Beaky is great but totally un-doctory. Also, is everything that RTD has done got a Manchester base / scene. It must be a sure fire thing that the TARDIS is going to land in Manchester at least once this series. |

I have nothing against beaky men. Was always quite taken with the elegantly aquiline features of Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes. REG isn't too bad either.

My brother always used to refer to Tom Baker as 'Chicken Nose' in our youth.
