No - it's not just you. It's been roughly six months since Paul Griggs did his last update, so my theory is that his web hosting contract has simply expired, and the web site is no more. Which is a shame, as when it actually was updated once a month it provided a great place to find out what was going on in the world of Doctor Who fan audios and videos.

i for one am frankly glad it's gone, as the site has been highly misrepresentative of a number of my reviews it reprinted, despite numerous complaints.
basically, in accordance with the site's terms and conditions, reviewers were supposed to be notified in advance if their reviews from elsewhere were selected for reprinting (as stipulated by international copyright law as well), on the proviso that if anyone objects, their material will be removed immediately. so when one of mine turned up without anyone having asked me (which was odd, as i'd been asked in the past -- perhaps that occasion was taken as a blanket "yes"), i kindly informed paul that there was a substantially improved version of the review available on this forum, and could he please reprint the appropriate one. three emails later, i finally got a reply, and six months later, he had yet to do anything about it. other than two or three news items and various forum posts, there have been zero updates to the site in that time. not that we need the capitol, especially if the little news it does post is three months out of date and highly inaccurate anyway. (i can't recall for how long it was breaking news that fortitude was just about to be released by btr, but it was still breaking news as recently as late last year!) the new flatliners site seems to have plenty of room for such breaking developments -- and for this they should be congratulated -- and we've got a forum of our own that's devoted to news and reviews pertaining to any fan group we care to give a mention in it. which is all of them, if so desired. i think the dam audios review threads have been very successful so far, to give a recent example, and it's always welcome to see a news update from macfadyan or rob dunlop (on behalf of dwad). bases are covered -- this loss is no real loss, and wasn't even before the site went down. besides, how can we rely for accurate news upon a site whose links page was claiming until its closure that matt k was editing the "parapark production" of time waits for no man, given that they're now called merkelbach films, the old link doesn't work, and matt handed the project over to me more than a year ago, which was when i edited it. the producer/director may not like to advertise it because of a silly human relations methodology he lives by (long story!), but my name's there in the credits of the film itself. while on this subject, though, does anyone know if colin caulkin's fan video database is still going? last i recall (and this was when he was still on our links list), he wasn't terribly up to date either, having singularly failed to mention any of the five fan films we produced last year, to give one example. nothing is certain. maybe.

Quote: On the Flatliners site, the reviewers can submit their own reviews. If the reviewer who originally posted their review or news or whatever wants to change or delete it, well they just go back onto the site and do just that! oh btw, we do have a download section, at the moment it's just for remote server linking, but I can host files on the blood-river server too. |
